Requirements For Bulletin Preparation:

Accepted Software Formats

Adobe PageMaker -All versions
Microsoft Publisher -All versions
Microsoft Word -All Versions

Postscript files (PRN) - The PRN option is completely free of charge and can be set up on your computer within minutes. Through use of an inherent Windows printer driver just about any file can be made into a .prn or .ps file. This gives you the ability to use almost any program you may already have (Lotus, Word Perfect, WordStar, etc.).

PDF files - Adobe Acrobat is the industry-standard PDF creation software. A nice low-cost alternative is available through BCL Technologies.

Any other Program capable of creating .pdf .prn or .ps (Postscript) files. Please call if the program you’d like to use is not listed above.
File Naming Guidelines

Bulletins - All bulletin file names must begin with your three-digit account number, and include the current month and Sunday of printing. As an example, a church with account number "275" with a bulletin for Sunday, October 5th would name their bulletin file like this… 275Oct5

Covers - Name your cover in a manner similar to your bulletin file. The same church with account number 275, would name their cover file for Sunday, October 5th like this... 275cover5

The name of the month is unnecessary with cover files. If you are sending a cover file for a future month in advance, indicate this in your note when sending the file.

Margins -
All bulletin and cover files must have a minimum of ½ inch margins on all sides.

Sending Your Files - If you have internet access, you can send us your bulletin and cover files through our upload site on the web at www.catholicprintery.net. If you are without internet access, you may use our dial-up modem software that we provide free of charge. We provide technical assistance over the phone whenever you need it. Using either of these methods, sending your files is just a few clicks of the mouse away.

If for some reason the usual methods are unavailable to you, email is an alternative method of file transmission. Simply send your bulletin as an attached file to prepress@catholicprintery.com. While we keep email as an option it is recommended as a back up means of transmission only. The reasons for this are the virus risk, delays in file transmission and lack of reliable confirmation of your sent files being received by us. Also, important website announcements, graphics downloads and helpful links and information aren't available to you.

If you encounter problems using our upload website or dialup software, please contact us for assistance before using email.
